I am a farmer and the granddaughter and daughter of a farmer. I’ve spent the majority of my thirty-something years of life living in a rural area that only receives the ABC on TV. The Goodies, Yes Minister and the music videos of late-night television formed a more lasting impression of the wider world for me than the news bulletins.  Music used to the voice of the people and now it is the blogs. I believe that the fights for truth, free speech, media diversity and online access are some of the many important battles we face in Australia.
