When is a gotcha not a gotcha? When it turns into a gaffe. Overnight the media digested the Anthony Albanese gotcha and reheated it as the gaffe for today. So much of the media cycle was taken up in exploratory analysis, headlining and opinionating on this one again.
The mass media tends to school in the same direction but some journalists like the ABC’s David Taylor would channel questions to the leaders on the economy in a different direction.
The media is a hungry beast and its favourite prey is the gotcha-gaffe.
