IN THE UPCOMING NSW election the Liberal Party is facing a strong challenge from community independent, Helen Conway in the safe seat of North Shore.

The seat was last held by an independent between 1988 and 1991 when Robyn Read was the local Member.

North Shore is currently held by Felicity Wilson who won 46.6% of the primary vote in 2019.

At the 2019 election Wilson fought off a strong challenge from independent candidate, Carolyn Corrigan and although suffering a -11.5% swing on primary votes, went on to win after preferences with 61.1% of the votes.

North Shore straddles the Federal electorates of North Sydney and Warringah, both held by community independents, making it a seat to watch.

Helen Conway talks with Margo Kingston about the campaign and doing politics differently in her community and Macquarie Street.
