Last century, former Queensland Premier Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen used an electoral system called the gerrymander which manipulated the numbers of constituents in electorates in favour of his government. This helped to keep him in power for more than two decades. Gerrymandering was ended after the Fitzgeral Inquiry report was implemented by the Goss Government.
In this century, Queensland Premier Campbell Newman uses propaganda. The below series of videos shows the path taken in dismantling the Fitzgerald Inquiry’s Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) and ultimately led to the sacking of the Parliamentary Crime and Misconduct Committee (PCMC). It also shows how the Newman Government uses the media and public officials to promote its propaganda regime.
The CMC was later renamed the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) by the Newman Government.

- Martin is replaced as CMC chief by Dr Ken Levy. Levy later tells the PCMC that he did not meet with anyone on the penning of a positive for The Courier Mail op-ed piece on Newman’s anti-bikie laws. He later corrects the record saying that he had help from a journalist and Newman government media advisor. Early in 2012, Newman made lying to parliament a criminal offence. Levy is still under investigation by police and still head of the CCC.
