VICTORIAN SENATE CANDIDATE and founding member of Voices for Indi (V4I), Susan Benedyka, has challenged Senator Greg Mirabella to a debate.

Benedyka was a core member of the community group V4I that led to Cathy McGowan defeating the senator’s wife, Sophie Mirabella, in the 2013 election.

In his first speech to Parliament just before Christmas, Greg Mirabella said of the ‘Voices’ movement:

They [Voices] are, therefore, the voices for Labor.

Greg Mirabella

Senator Mirabella had certainly seen Benedyka coming, going on to say:

They even have a senate candidate preaching the need for transparency in politics.

Greg Mirabella

As you’d expect, Benedyka strongly supports the Federal Integrity bill, Indi MP Helen Haines took to Canberra.

However, she told No Fibs her decision to run was made while having coffee with McGowan during the 2020 climate fires.

We were surrounded by smoke and it was very scary.

The inaction, inattention to experts, the lack of foresight made me wild.

Susan Benedyka

Benedyka is trying to apply the ‘Voices’ process of participatory democracy to a Victorian Senate seat.

I asked Benedyka if that was a direct challenge to Senator Mirabella:

Yes, bring it on.

Susan Benedyka

The Victorian Senate ‘Voices’ (like) candidate will be attending the #IndiVotes candidates forum in Benalla at the Lakeside Community Centre.
