Independent Adam Blakester (@adamblakester) is running in Barnaby Joyce’s National Party seat of New England.
Climate change and water are a huge issues (and intrinsically linked) in the seat as evidenced by the recent NSW election result.
Former Member Tony Windsor recently said on Twitter: “@adamblakester is a very decent, caring and forward thinking man with a real capacity to work with community to solve issues and channel energy. He has strong views on governance in business, community groups and government. New England is fortunate to have a person of this calibre.”

Misogyny changing minds in #NewEnglandVotes: @NewEnglandLady4 comments on #AusVotes19 #WomenVote

During a speech to mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2019, Scott Morrison suggested that womens’ advancement should not come at the expense of men. For the Prime Minister to be openly saying this points to significant obstacles for womens’ voices being heard in this country, not only in parliament but at the ballot box. Australian […]

Peoples’ voice emerging for #NewEnglandVotes: @tallawang reports on @AdamBlakester call to action

I first met Adam Blakester (@AdamBlakester) about 12 years ago in Armidale. We chatted over a cup of coffee and discovered a series of common interests. Renewable energy and sustainability were among them, but they are only the tip of the iceberg. As a regenerative farmer with almost 20 years under my belt in the […]

The @NoFibs #IndependentsDay Twitter mission at #ausvotes: @margokingston1 comments

The way I see it, every safe Coalition seat must be in play in the sense that quality indies ask tough questions incumbents are forced to answer. That requires courageous indies & committed, creative citizens because a weakened local media can’t do it. Ready to play? #ausvotes — Margo Kingston (@margokingston1) February 22, 2019 Hi. […]

Climate heresy in the high country: @burgewords comments on #NewEnglandVotes

To turn this region into a true believer, New England voters need to decide if we want fossil fuel extraction in the energy plan. WHEN state member for the NSW seat of Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall put pen to paper in favour of renewable electricity generation in mid-2018, the news made barely a ripple in […]

Barnaby Joyce out of place: @burgewords comments on #NewEnglandVotes

The man who once had a home base at Tamworth, but now seems to belong nowhere. AS I approached the polling station at the Tenterfield Memorial Hall on by-election day in December 2017, I suspected Barnaby Joyce would put in an early appearance. If Mr Joyce was going to cover New England glad-handing and holding […]
